During an exploratory Zoom today, I was asked again about my logo, so I shared my respect and concern for elephants and how I simply wanted to honor them within my logo. My new contact then told me that he was originally from Kenya and that he recently adopted an orphaned elephant through the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (SWT). I immediately researched SWT and I’m proud to say that we adopted Roho the elephant today!
The Age of Sustainable Development, an online course by Professor Jeffrey Sachs, is a wonderful introduction and overview of WHY we need the sixth Kondratiev Wave to be a wave of sustainable technologies. In Prof. Sachs words, we need to find ways to produce energy, ways to mobilize energy, ways to transport ourselves and transport goods that take the massive pressure and the destructive forces off of our ecosystems. This is the great challenge ahead of us, and this course is an amazing way to better understand this challenge!
This is a great explainer video by The Conservation Fund on land-based fish farming. 90% of US seafood is currently imported and 2x the current supply will be needed by 2050, so there is a growing need for new ways to provide high-quality, local fish without putting more pressure on our oceans. Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) is one solution.

ARTIFISHAL is a Patagonia film about man’s disastrous approach to Nature, including river dams & open-water fish-farms, that are leading to the weakening and extinction of species. I believe that Sustainable Fish Farms are one of the important steps needed to protect our wild fish!
Impact Capital Partners only sources opportunities that have impacts that are aligned with the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice. The 17 Goals are all interconnected, and in order to leave no one behind, it is important that we achieve them all by 2030.
The Ivory Game is an undercover documentary by Paul Allen’s Vulcan Productions that exposes the ugly world of ivory trading. I first saw African elephants in 1983 in Kenya and was moved by their majestic presence. Even today I try to pay my respect to their plight by honoring them within my logo.
Four Fish was an eye opening journey that I highly recommend if you are interested in the future of our oceans and the fish that live there. Greenberg does a wonderful job of blending his personal narrative with the science and mega trends that are driving aquaculture to be the fastest growing food production system on the planet. It is hard not to get HOOKED by this book!
I spent the first half of my life on the East Coast and the second half on the West Coast…. from Manhattan to Manhattan Beach.
In 2020 I launched Impact Capital Partners to make a difference in my own way – by creating a platform to facilitate the flow of capital from institutional investors to “impact investments.”
Through Impact Capital Partners, I hope to make it easier for institutional investors to find and invest in impact investments, because I believe that as larger dollar amounts seek investments with market-rate returns AND positive social impact, we will have a better chance of solving the world’s toughest problems!
