In partnership with the UN, this independent organization wants to understand the investment implications of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors and help its international network of investor signatories include these factors in their investment and ownership decisions. Most of their funding comes from annual membership fees and grants from governments, foundations, and other international groups.
In signing the Principles, investors publicly commit to adopt and implement them, where consistent with our fiduciary responsibilities. Signatories also commit to evaluate the effectiveness and improve the content of the Principles over time. The PRI believes this will improve its ability to meet commitments to beneficiaries as well as better align investment activities with the broader interests of society.
