NewYork GreenCloud has announced the completed acquisition of the Buena Vista Biomass Power (BVBP) facility in Ione, California. The transaction, which closed on September 15, 2025, establishes BVBP as the company’s first flagship site for an integrated, renewable-powered AI infrastructure project.
The acquisition reflects a broader shift underway across the AI and energy sectors: as demand for compute accelerates, power availability and sustainability have become defining constraints. BVBP represents a development model designed to address both challenges simultaneously by integrating renewable baseload energy generation directly with on-site AI computing.

What Was Announced
According to the press release, NewYork GreenCloud will redevelop the former biomass power facility into a 41 MW renewable, baseload energy platform capable of supporting behind-the-meter AI data center operations. Rather than relying on grid-delivered power, the project integrates energy production, thermal management, and compute infrastructure within a single site.
The redevelopment brings together multiple specialized participants with defined roles:
- NewYork GreenCloud is leading development and long-term operation of the AI Factory model.
- BucSha Energy is providing the biomass-to-pyrolysis platform, utilizing woody biomass feedstocks such as forest, agricultural, and construction and demolition materials.
- Impact Capital Partners has supported capital formation and project structuring as the development advances through multiple phases.
The BVBP site is intended to serve as a foundational reference point for similar redevelopments in other regions.
Why This Matters
AI infrastructure development is increasingly constrained by power availability, grid interconnection timelines, and emissions intensity. Traditional hyperscale models—where compute is added first and energy considerations follow—are facing growing limitations.
The BVBP project illustrates an alternative approach…. energy-first, compute-integrated infrastructure, where renewable baseload power and AI workloads are co-located by design. By repurposing an existing renewable asset rather than building new grid-dependent capacity, the project highlights how legacy infrastructure can be adapted to meet emerging technology demands.
From an infrastructure perspective, BVBP demonstrates how renewable energy assets can evolve beyond merchant power generation to support modern, energy-intensive digital workloads…. without increasing reliance on fossil fuels or strained transmission networks.
Looking Ahead
While BVBP represents a single facility, it is positioned as a reference model rather than a standalone project. As AI adoption continues to scale, similar energy-integrated approaches may play an increasingly important role in how compute infrastructure is deployed across different regions.
This partnership represents a foundational milestone not only for NYGC, but also for the broader transition toward clean, resilient, and carbon-negative compute ecosystems. As AI adoption accelerates, the industry will increasingly reward infrastructure platforms capable of delivering high-performance GPU capacity without exacerbating energy demand, emissions, or grid congestion.
NYGC’s integrated model – combining renewable baseload power, biochar production, energy storage, and liquid-cooled AI data centers – offers a scalable blueprint for the next generation of U.S. digital infrastructure.
Impact Capital Partners is proud to support this mission and the broader effort to align technological progress with environmental stewardship.
